1. What is Sports Slam?

Sports Slam is a new initiative to help introduce sports to children from Sports Direct. Packed full of fun learning activities for children to enjoy in primary and junior schools all over the UK. Sports Direct’s brand partners are Nike, Puma, Under Armour and Asics. Sports Slam is aimed at children between the ages of 7-11.

Opening for registration on March 9th 2022. Sports Slam will kick-start a summer of discovering new sports. The main aim is to inspire children to get involved in sport, with a variety of fun and engaging PE lessons. Pupils of participating schools will experience four new sports over a multisport lesson or a series of lessons – they include: tennis, track and field, obstacle course and basketball, each represented by one of the partner brands. Sports Direct will provide the Early Bird schools (see below) with a FREE kit pack for all the activities. The Kit Pack provided will be for 32 children, however we encourage participating schools to get more than one class involved.

2. How does a school sign up?

Entries to Sports Slam must be by persons aged 18 or above, acting on behalf of and with the authority of the relevant school in the England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Only one entry is permitted per school and only one kit bag per school will be available.

Please read through the information provided in your packs, to give more detail on the children’s activities. We encourage all participating schools to promote Sports Slam, providing the positive spirit of the initiative is captured and all the necessary consents are obtained.

Schools will need to run the games themselves using their own internal staff, no further personnel will be provided by Sports Direct.

All children will receive a Sports Slam ‘passport’ for their participation in the PE lessons, which they can have ‘stamped’ after completing each sport in the lesson plan. On the back of the passport there will be a bar code that entitles the child (with their parent or guardian) to 20% off at Sports Direct (in store only) once all four stamps have been collected. Vouchers can only be used once, not in conjunction with any other offer and will be valid until 31/12/22.

Once the Sports Slam PE lesson has been completed, children will be given worksheets and asked to design an entirely new sport based on their experience. Each school will then have the opportunity to pick one entry to represent their school and be entered (via the website) into a competition for the following prizes.
